How to become a Hairdresser
Entering the hairdressing industry can seem confusing and daunting at first, however the London Hair Academy has designed its hairdressing courses to make it as easy as possible for you to realise your dream of becoming a professional hairdresser.
In order to get yourself into the industry, first you must take a NVQ course in hairdressing. This course focuses on the necessary theoretical and practical skills needed and is a qualification you must have to get a job in the industry. Whats more, this course provides you with an internationally recognised qualification allowing you to work anywhere in the world! During the process of completing your NVQ you will work live models to ensure you leave as confident as possible to cater to clients in the working world.
The NVQ course in hairdressing has been specially developed by commercially active industry experts to teach you the essential and most current cutting, colouring and styling skills to help you gain employment. In small classes of a maximum of 6 students, you will learn everything from consultation skills, health and safety, preparation of clients, shampooing and conditioning the hair, cutting skills (including one length cuts and graduations), colouring skills (including root tints, highlights, weaves and slicing) as well as a one on one progress meeting to discuss advice on your future career. You will also receive a full Professional Hairdressing Kit with everything you need to kick start your career.
After the NVQ course, students can move onto more advanced courses such as the Advanced Cut and Colour Techniques course or Silver Hair Stylist Certificate, or diversify your skills further into other areas including Hair Extensions, Professional Hair Styling or even Makeup courses.
Our tutors would agree that hairdressing is an amazing industry to be a part of. “Being a hairdresser is such an interactive, artistic and creative career, you get to meet new people every day and making people look fantastic and feel good is a very rewarding experience to be a part of. Working freelance allows you to work flexible hours to suit your lifestyle which is another huge benefit!” (Susan, LHA tutor).
