Hairdressing Apprenticeships –
What’s The Alternative?

Want to get into hairdressing?

Training doesn’t have to involve an apprenticeship.

At the London Hair Academy, we offer a faster and more flexible route to becoming a qualified hair stylist.

As the leading hairdressing academy in the UK, we offer a fresh, creative approach to training. Our wide range of short intensive courses covers every aspect of hairdressing, from basic training to advanced qualifications.

Fast-Track Your Career

Not everyone has time to spend years in training. In such a dynamic and progressive industry, it can feel frustrating to be stuck on a long-term course when the goal is far from sight. On an apprenticeship, it can take at least 12-18 months until you’re ready to start working as a qualified hairdresser.

If you’re looking for a faster route, enrol on our full-time NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing course and you’ll be qualified and industry-ready in just 13 weeks.

Fancy a career in Barbering? Take our NVQ Level 2 course and you’ll be a qualified barber in just 9 weeks.

Tempted By Paid Apprenticeships?

Although hairdressing apprenticeships offer paid work, wages are typically set to the government minimum wage. Choose one of our short intensive courses, and you’ll be qualified within weeks and ready to earn a real income.

Unlike most apprenticeships, we’ll even provide a free professional hairdressing kit as part of the course.

Everyone’s Welcome

If you’re aged over 19, you’ll only receive up to 50% government funding for your apprenticeship. This means asking your employer to pick up the bill for the remaining cost, which isn’t always an option.

At the London Hair Academy, we welcome students of all ages and abilities – including those who have completed apprenticeships but found they required further skills training in order to find employment.

We’re passionate about hairdressing, and our courses are designed to educate, excite and inspire you to reach your full potential.

Specialised Learning

Unlike work-based training, students at the London Hair Academy benefit from more attention and one-to-one focus to help develop their skills.

You’ll be learning in small groups, with no more than 6 students per class. We only employ commercially-active tutors who are up-to-date with the latest cutting methods and styles. On completion of the course, you’ll receive an internationally-recognised qualification that will open doors into the hairdressing industry and kickstart your career.

Flexibility

The London Hair Academy offers a range of start dates throughout the year – so you won’t need to wait until September to begin your course. Unlike most apprenticeships, our courses aren’t fixed to the academic calendar. We’re open 6 days a week, for 51 weeks of the year. Our flexible schedule allows you to find a course to suit your lifestyle – whether you want to study full-time, part-time or during evenings. We’ll help you find the right course for YOU.

Funding

If you’re worried about course fees, you may be entitled to apply for government funding. Some of our training courses have been approved for Professional Career and Development Loans (PCDL), including NVQ Level 2 Barbering and NVQ Level 2 Hairdressing. All you need to do is contact the National Careers Service on 0800 100 900 to request an application pack.

And That’s Not All…

Enrolling on a course at the London Hair Academy is only the beginning of your career. We’re proud to be the only academy to offer a dedicated graduate website and aftercare service to help students find work after completing their training. By joining this industry directory, you’ll have access to exclusive opportunities in the UK and abroad.
