This NVQ Level 2 Barbering Course provides a faster route for anyone who is interested in becoming a men’s hairdresser but does not have the time to spend studying for two or more years.

It is recommended that candidates have achieved a level of education equivalent to GCSEs prior to commencing this course; however, exemptions may be made for adult returners with experience of the workplace. A good understanding of English is essential.

Applicant's may be asked to attend an interview prior to starting their course.

The ITEC (International Therapy Examination Council) Level 2 NVQ Diploma is an internationally recognised qualification. It is linked with the World Federation of Hairdressers, National Hairdressers Federation and the Complementary Therapists Association (CThA) for insurance purposes and support.

This beginner’s course is specifically designed to provide students with an intensive 8 week course in which they will learn the necessary practical and theoretical skills to either work in a barber shop, or become a freelance men’s hairdresser.

This course is taught by qualified educators who incorporate theory work, special projects, demonstrations and hands-on workshops. Your tutor will guide you through the stages of the course and monitor your personal progress. All necessary equipment, styling tools and manuals are provided.

Throughout the course you will have your own clients to enable you to build a portfolio of all your work, consisting of photographic evidence and practical assignments.

You will be assessed in both theory and practical areas throughout this course.
You will practice on members of the public throughout this course.

Students are required to bring in a camera to take photos during this course as part of their portfolio of evidence for assessment purposes.
